Full-time Schedule: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm, and 11am-7pm every other weekend. Part-Time Schedule: Monday, Friday, and Weekends
Per Diem Opportunities are also available. Pay: $16.00 per hour Location: Danvers, MA 01923 Benefits and Perks:

Job Summary: As an Activities Assistant, you will work with the activities department providing fun, healthy activities to stimulate and entertain the residents at New England Home for the Deaf. This will include assisting in the Sunroom and group outings and providing some interest and direction in tasks. American Sign Language is needed for communicating with staff and residents. ASL classes are provided on-site. Job Duties:
  • Assist with Socializing residents in Sunroom activities
  • Create and facilitate activities for residents
  • Invite and encourage residents to attend and participate in activities
  • Explain the time, place, and nature of activities as needed
  • Offer activity materials for residents to peruse activities/interests in/out of the room as desired
  • Properly document each resident’s daily activity participation in the appropriate logs
  • Provide appropriate group and one-on-one activities for all residents
  • Assist in the participation of and transport of residents to the activity location
  • Copy and distribute the Activities schedule to residents
  • Set up activity areas
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Participate in off-site resident activities and group outings
  • Attend outdoor events with residents on and off the property
Qualifications:· Must be 16 years of age or older.· An attitude of respect and compassion towards all residents and staff.· Ability to communicate clearly using ASL as deafblind aid.· Willingness to work weekends and Holidays, on occasion or regularly.· Pleasant personality and ability to maintain a calm demeanor during excitable or emergency situations.· Must be up to date with a Health Physical, Flu Vaccine, and Covid-19 Vaccine.· Knowledge of American Sign Language and Deaf culture a plus. Staff must participate in free, weekly ASL classes are on-site.
