Responsible for directing all aspects of the day-to-day operations (including system/technical oversight) of processing mail-in energy and non-energy payments received from customers, ensuring that internal billing systems are updated, and deposit details are forwarded to the bank in a timely manner. You’ll provide day to day leadership to a staff of (8) members responsible for the day-to-day processing of mail-in payments.

- Ensure the effective/efficient operation of all Remittance Processing department functions related to mail-in customer payments.
- Lead a team of 8 staff personnel, supervising selection/hiring, goal setting, performance management (and salary planning), employee development, and training.
- Cultivate relationships and maintain open lines of communication with internal clients/partners (i.e., Customer Service, Treasurer’s, and Information Technology) and vendors (i.e., USPS, OPEX, BancTec),
- Supervise and direct the daily processing of the Lockbox and Research activities ensuring accurate, timely processing of mail-in customer payments in conformance with internal policies/ procedures and customer service requirements.
- Lead team’s efforts toward achieving business objectives and plans (and related key performance indicators), in alignment with Company/Organization goals; oversee and enable all process improvement initiatives, carrying out project management standards to ensure timely achievement of milestones (and related deliverables).
- Maintain well-controlled processes in a complex, constantly evolving meter-to-cash business process environment, ensuring cross-functional alignment; ensure and attest to a controlled SOX environment, including emphasis on effective cybersecurity/fraud detection measures.
- Provide for maintenance, servicing, and operational effectiveness of machinery and equipment to improve utilization and output.
- Supervise and enable all processes, implementing standards, milestones, and deliverables to best meet SCE short-term tactical and long-term strategic objectives.
The Essentials
- One (1) or more years experience supervising, managing, or leading a department, work unit, or team.
- One (1) or more years of experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as it relates to payment processing (and support activities) and ability to resolve document appropriate accounting conclusions for management review/approval.
The Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in accounting, business, or related field of study.
- Experience overseeing a lockbox operation environment.
- Experience with payment/exception processing utilizing BancTec Pay Courier system or comparable remittance processing system.
- Experience with OPEX Eagle, OPEX 150, and OPEX 7200I payment extraction/imaging equipment or comparable payment processing equipment.
- Experience with system implementations and related testing activities
- Project management, Lean/Six Sigma, and/or related certification(s) or experience
- Experience in effectively communicating (written and verbal), effective decision making, and results delivery.

This position’s work mode is ON-SITE. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
