JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Undergraduate Education (UE), Office of Communications is seeking a highly organized, creative, and collaborative Web Developer (Multimedia Specialist 2) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented multimedia specialist who specializes in web design and development to support UE’s growing development and web support needs.
The Web Developer will:
Design and maintain websites including; development of new functionality, content updates, style and layout, mobile first and responsive design and accessibility, and best practices for SEO, in collaboration with Communications and other units at Penn State, as well as external vendors as needed
Support UE unit staff with content and web needs
Develop new multimedia solutions to implement on websites and optimize site performance and functionality, including SEO
Create and guide training resources and related documentation
Coordinate various projects related to web development and design, which may include visualization and imaging projects, application design and implementation, database creating and integration, etc.
Serve as the lead point of contact for UE unit websites, as assigned
Collaborate with Penn State Communications and IT staff, vendors, and technology staff to resolve issues
Comply with accessibility standards, contractual obligations, confidentiality and privacy policies, and style and standard guidelines
Conduct research on emerging development and design ideas and deliver fresh, stylized, and on-brand solutions that align with short timelines as well as longer-term projects with complex, high-production goals
Be confident working as part of a team but be able to independently manage your own projects
As an integral part of the marketing and communications team, the successful candidate will collaborate with other Communications team staff, including marketing communications specialists focusing on writing/editing, graphic design, and social media, on projects and campaigns that span multiple marketing communications channels.
This position has the potential to be performed fully remote or as a hybrid of remote and on-site work at Penn State University Park. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Education and Experience:
Typically requires Associate’s degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Bootstrap, git, and Microsoft 365 platform including: Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Outlook, Word, Excel is required. Experience working with multiple projects as part of a collaborative team is an essential part of this position.
The successful candidate will have advanced knowledge of Drupal web development; both front- and back-end development skills. Drupal 7 experience required, experience with Drupal 9 and Composer preferred. In addition, the developer will possess a working knowledge of other web development platforms, including Wordpress. Experience using Adobe design software is desired.
